Lies Within Dating

One of the deep joys of working with students comes from helping them discern between lies and truth.

A student small group recently took a huge step forward when one of the members talked about breaking off a relationship. She discovered within a week of dating that she was allowing the foundation to be built on a lie she believed about herself. The bond between them began on shaky ground and she could tell that behavior would soon follow.

Her discovery (and subsequent termination of that relationship) was an eye opener for the rest of us. It expanded our insight.

What ‘lies’ lurk in the shadows of your life? How do they lead to unhealthy bonds?  As youth workers and parents, our goal is to discover them earlier and process them quicker. God loves to redeem, buying back opportunities to lead the way for our students.
